About Me

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in working with men, women and couples to define, pursue and fulfill their hearts’ desires in life and relationships. I received my undergraduate degree from U.C.L.A. and a Masters in Counseling from California State University at Fullerton. In addition to my private practice, I am also a member of the faculty at California State University, Fullerton, teaching courses related to counseling theory, group counseling and crisis intervention.

My style of counseling is psychodynamic in nature, meaning that I believe that the past is powerfully influential in our lives; however, I also believe that it is important to focus our work together on how the present is impacted by the past and on using that knowledge to help make changes that lead to better relationships and to better living. I am passionate about helping clients to stop being so hard on themselves, to stop putting their needs at the bottom of their "to do" list and to find better ways to resolve both inner conflict and conflict in relationships [See: Perfectionist to Optimalist]. In my work with couples, I aim to help eliminate blame, that “same old fight,” and to help clients rekindle the loving feelings that brought them together in the first place. My husband and I have been married for 26 years, and throughout those years I have learned much by way of “on the job training.” I am also the mother of two young men, a college student and a college graduate on his way to graduate school.  In my practice, I use both my professional training and experience as well as my “real life” training and experience in working with clients to create important shifts in thinking and doing and toward building lasting and rewarding relationships, as well as happier, healthier families.
